Went with a few friends to experience the midnight sun in Tromso, fjiords, Vigeland Sculpture Park in Oslo, wooden stave churches, and some glacier hiking.

1999

After a day in South Africa, I spent almost three weeks in the neighbor above. Tallest sand dunes on earth, my first safari (zebras are goofy), took a local flight over the sand-locked freighters that the desert swallowed from the ocean, and marveled at ancient rock glyphs.

Cambodia

2002

The Khmer ruins are freaking spectacular. In particular Angkor Wat. But I lit off to see a lot of others, which were far less crowded. Spent time on Phnom Penh, enjoyed a boat trip on the Tonle Sap, accidentally encountered a Buddhist festival where it was wall-to-wall monks.

nicaragua

2010

After a visit to Costa Rica, I landed in Nicaragua. I stayed the whole time in Granada and explored from there. First night there was a religious holiday, so I watched a procession with the Virgin held aloft. I visited ruined churches, the cemetery, an active volcano with its steaming caldera, kayaked on Lake Nicaragua,
